Comms agency wins contractor with company behind the Beano

Glasgow-based communications agency Wire has won a major contract with the makers of the Beano and Dandy.

The firm will deliver creative, paid and earned media support across DC Thomson Media’s newspaper, magazine and radio portfolios.

Wire was hired after a three-way pitch for the content creation arm of the DC Thomson group behind the Sunday Post and radio stations Original 106 and Kingdom FM.

It is working with DCT on the launch of new magazine Platinum.

Lee Beattie, director at WIRE said: “From reading the comic strips in my grandpa’s Sunday Post, to buying the Beano every week, I’ve grown up loving so many of DCT Media’s brands, so this is a client win that feels especially joyful.

"It’s also hugely exciting to be working with a company that’s investing in the future of print as well as innovating and producing other dynamic content and experiences. Our first campaign to launch Platinum, a new women’s magazine, has been a dream to work on.”

Rebecca Moncrieff, head of communications & brand marketing for DC Thomson Media, said: "During the pitch process it was clear that WIRE team were hugely passionate about our business and brands, and since winning the contract they have already delivered some compelling work for us.

"I’m excited to launch the first campaign for our brand-new women’s magazine, Platinum, and there is plenty more to come.”
