Commonwealth Games swimmer Archie Goodburn broke down in tears whilst making a plea to Andy Burnham live on television.
Goodburn, 25, who competed in the 50m breaststroke final last week, was diagnosed with rare inoperable brain tumours two years ago.
Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday (4 August), the swimmer said that the new Rare Cancers Bill, which became law earlier this year, is “not going to be enough”.
Looking directly at the camera, the 25-year-old urged the new prime minister to establish a national brain cancer lead and investment, to “give us a chance to fight for our lives”.
“This has to change. It’s been going on for too long and the suffering is unbearable.”
