Commonwealth Games 2026 opening ceremony: What time is it, how can I watch and who is performing?

  • The Commonwealth Games 2026 will kick off with its opening ceremony at Glasgow 's OVO Hydro on Thursday 23 July at 8pm .
  • UK viewers can tune in live on TNT Sports 2 , or watch free-to-air on Channel 5 . Gaelic coverage will also be provided by BBC Alba from 8pm.
  • Performers at the opening ceremony include KT Tunstall , Nathan Evans, Calum Beattie and Nina Nesbitt.
  • TNT Sports holds the full live rights for the Games, but the opening ceremony and nightly highlights will be able to be viewed on Channel 5.
  • Some 74 countries will take part in the Games, with about 3,000 athletes competing for 215 gold medals.
