The Commonwealth Games are back, and this time the action shifts to Glasgow, Scotland — the same city that stepped in as host after Victoria pulled out. The 2026 edition kicked off with early action in bowls on the morning of July 23, followed by a grand Opening Ceremony at the OVO Hydro before the games run all the way through to August 2.
India has sent a 125-member contingent competing across 13 sports, including four para sports, headlined by javelin great Neeraj Chopra, Olympic medallist weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, boxing star Lovlina Borgohain, and debutants like Gurindervir Singh and Gyaneshwari Yadav. All eyes will also be on Chopra's much-awaited face-off with Pakistan's Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem.
India's medal hunt is expected to begin as early as July 24, with the para powerlifting lightweight finals featuring Paramjeet Kumar, Ashok Malik, Suman Devi and Jaspreet Kaur. The campaign is set to wind down on August 2 with Judo and Lawn Bowls medal events, ahead of the Closing Ceremony.
