Commons Speaker John Bercow croaks 'order order' after losing his voice

Commons Speaker John Bercow croaked ‘order order’ this morning, after apparently losing his voice.

The chairman, who has become famous the world over for his booming interjections in Commons debates, appeared to have a frog in his throat when MPs returned this morning.

Sounding a bit like a raspy Darth Vader impersonator, Bercow struggled to call the Commons to order this morning in time for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport questions.

But as MPs laughed at his ailment, Bercow promised “it won’t last long, don’t you worry.”

Boris Johnson will face a grilling from MPs this morning over his new Brexit plan.

The Prime Minister will appear before MPs to explain his new offer to Brussels.

Ministers have been briefed on the details of the 'two borders' plan for Northern Ireland at an emergency cabinet meeting this morning.

But Brussels figures are already knocking the proposals down.

The proposals were not immediately rejected last night and EU chiefs promised to “study them in further detail”.
