Common error Prince William made with Prince George when presenting him to the world

We won't go as far as saying, "the royals, they're just like us" - but nor are they not completely immune to the same mistakes as the rest of us.

Especially when it comes to parenting because, even with Norland's finest on your pay roll, there's still no manual.

If you cast your minds back to 2013, we were once again entrenched in Royal Baby Fever. This time for the arrival of Prince George.

Following his birth, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge came out to present their newborn bundle to the world. They even gave a short interview and posed for pictures, despite (presumably) being completely frazzled and emotional at being catapulted into first-time parenthood.

Why Princess Beatrice didn't curtsy to the Queen - but Kate Middleton and Zara Tindall did

They handled the burning hot scrutiny well and, like many a new parent before them, they made a common mistake.

As any parent knows, fitting the car seat for the first time is a bit of a fiddle. But it wasn't Prince William's fumblings which drew criticism, but rather the fact that George was swaddled then buckled into his seat.

Safety advice states that items such as blankets and swaddles can prevent the seat straps from staying the correct position.

Why Meghan Markle told pals she 'feels sorry' for Duchess of Cambridge

As well as being swaddled, George's little arms were poking out from under the straps. Cue, outrage as people weighed in on the matter.

In comparison to George's appearance and what was likely to be some serous first-time parent jitters, when presenting Princess Charlotte to the press, Kate and William seemed a lot more confident and absolutely nailed fitting the car seat too.
