Committee on Arab Information Discusses in Riyadh Support for Palestine

The meeting of the Permanent Committee on Arab Information at the Arab League in Riyadh (Asharq Al-Awsat)

The Permanent Committee on Arab Information at the Arab League will submit a list of recommendations to the meeting of the Executive Office of the representatives of the Arab Ministers of Information for approval, including an item on the joint media strategy and another on supporting the Palestinian Cause.

The committee concludes on Tuesday its two-day meeting in Riyadh, during which participants were briefed on the follow-up to the implementation of the resolution of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information, which focuses on the centrality of the Palestinian cause and on Arab identity of East Jerusalem, the capital of the occupied State of Palestine.

Participants stressed the need to show the reality of the situation in Palestinian territories and give Palestinian-related news enough space so that the world could be aware of the occupation practices and crimes against journalists and media institutions.

The Undersecretary of the Saudi Information Ministry and the head of the Permanent Committee on Arab Information, Khalid Al-Ghamidi, said during the meeting that he was looking forward to fruitful cooperation between the media and communication sector in the Arab League and the Committee on Arab Information.

He pointed out that the meeting reviewed the implementation of the decisions of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information on Arab issues at the regional and international levels, adding that discussions “revolved around 13 items, including Palestine, the implementation of an effective media strategy and ways to enhance the role of electronic media.”
