Commercial vehicle dealer CVAM warns it could relocate from North Wales unless relocation secured

A commercial vehicle dealer that trades around the UK and exports overseas is hoping to secure permission for a new site close to the A55 – warning it may need to consider relocation outside the area if the plans are rejected.

CVAM Ltd is based in Denbigh but has outgrown its existing premises and now needs to expand.

It has spent eight years searching for a new site but up to now has been unable to find anything suitable.

Now they have commissioned Cadnant Planning to consult on plans for a storage and distribution facility at the Vista site at St Asaph Business Park.

A spokesman for Cadnant said: “Their wish is to remain within the Denbighshire area so that the economic benefits offered to their supply chain can remain within the local economy in the Denbighshire area. CVAM spend around £150m per annum within the supply chain.

"If the applicant is not able to develop the site, the need to search for sites further afield in North West England is a very real prospect.”

They said they had the potential to bring 12 jobs to the site but the bigger impact is the spend in the local economy.

A pre-application consultation has been started ahead of the proposal being submitted to Denbighshire council.
