Commentator reveals story of heartwarming James Milner act after former Leeds United star's Champions League win

Leeds United fans have been quick to show their pride at James Milner's Champions League win on Saturday night, as they revelled in the former Whites star's latest honour.

Milner is a product of the Thorp Arch academy, with the Leeds-born 33-year-old coming up through the ranks and making his senior debut as a 16-year-old, soon becoming the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history.

He would leave the club in 2004 following Leeds' relegation from the top flight and has since gone on to win a clean sweep of English domestic football's major honours in a career that has seen him turn out Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Liverpool.

But for all his success on the pitch, it is his actions off the pitch for which he should be most proud of.

Milner has set up the James Milner Foundation, a charity organisation that assists young people in various ways, but a series of tweets from football commentator John Bradley in the aftermath of Liverpool's win over Tottenham shows the lengths Milner will go to help others.

"Earlier in the season, while my little one was fighting for his life in Alder Hey, this lad went out of his way to call every day, to see how we were and whether there was anything he could do for us to help," Bradley posted on Twitter, alongside pictures of Milner biting his Champions League medal and holding Bradley's young son.

"So, forgive me a tear of joy for him tonight. A brilliant human being," he continued, before one final tweet on the matter:

"Sometimes the good guy does win."

Further proof that they raise they the right way at Leeds United.
