Comment: John Delaney and the FAI blazers blazed in, blazed out and said nothing

The blazers blazed in, blazed out and said nothing.

Anyone expecting to see the former John Delaney grilled on the €100,000 loan he gave his employers were left very disappointed, but it shouldn't have come as a surprise.

He stated he could not answer questions on the payment, his role as CEO or the finance arrangements at the FAI, due to legal advice.

John Delaney says he acted in best interests of the game by loaning FAI €100,000

At this stage, the only question to ask him was what's the point of you being here then?

Earlier in his statement, Delaney claimed he acted in the best interests of the game when making the loan.

Last year when still FAI CEO, Delaney earned €360,000 on top of the €160,000 he received off UEFA.

In comparison, Dundalk picked up €110,000 for winning the league. You can make your own mind up if Delaney was acting in the best interests of Irish football when his salary was dwarfing the prize money for top level clubs in our country.

Nonetheless, he walked away from yesterday's Committee on Transport, Tourism and Sport meeting with us all knowing little more than we did beforehand.

And despite his salary being "substantially less" now than it was when he was CEO, Delaney will still be laughing all the way to the bank in his new role.
