Commemorative Olympic stamps to go on sale June 23

The beleaguered Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games will be getting a stamp of approval. Of the philatelic kind, at least.

Japan Post announced Thursday that it will start selling commemorative stamp sets for the events on June 23. Three different sets will be available, and all can be purchased at post offices nationwide or over the internet.

Each set consists of a sheet of 25 84 yen stamps and is priced at 2,100 yen.

Of the three types, two are designed with 50 Olympic events such as judo and swimming. The other has the 23 Paralympic events, such as wheelchair basketball, as well as stamps of the Games logo.

Japan Post plans to sell one million of the sets each.

Also available will be 200,000 stamp albums containing the three sets and a commemorative stamp featuring the newly built National Stadium. It is priced at 10,000 yen including tax.
