Commanders’ rookies go on a field trip

The Washington Commanders are finished with the offseason program. The next step is training camp, which opens on July 27 in just over a month. As the offseason earlier this month, players had six weeks off before returning to Ashburn for camp.

While some players stick around, others will travel, enjoying the last few weeks of freedom before the grind of another NFL season begins.

What about the rookies?

Washington’s rookies were in town Tuesday, and the group went on a field trip to Washington, D.C., to visit some of the country’s most historical landmarks, such as the Lincoln Memorial, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.

All of the Commanders’ rookies were present, including first-round pick Emmanuel Forbes. Washington senior director of player development Malcolm Bracken joined the rookies for the field trip.

Sharla McBride of WUSA Channel 9 in Washington also took in the trip with the rookies and spoke to Forbes and second-round pick Quan Martin.

NBC4 in Washington was also present.
