Washington jumped out to a 20-0 lead at halftime behind 246 total yards of offense and holding the Texans to just five yards of total offense.

However, the Commanders took a different approach in the second half, content to just run the football and play defense. The Texans, always scrappy, had plenty of fight left. On Houston’s first possession of the second half, they drove down the field to get on the board with a field goal.

Washington’s offense stuck with the running game, only scoring three points in the second half. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke only attempted five passes in the second half and completed 15 of 27 for 191 yards on the day.

As a team, the Commanders rushed for 153 yards. Antonio Gibson rushed for 72 yards, while Brian Robinson Jr. rushed for 57. Wide receiver Curtis Samuel had 18 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Washington’s defense allowed only 148 total yards. The Texans, who have a phenomenal rookie running back in Dameon Pierce, rushed for 21 yards on 16 attempts.

The Commanders sacked Davis Mills five times and picked him off twice, including cornerback Kendall Fuller’s interception return for a touchdown.

The Commanders return home to FedEx Field to host the Atlanta Falcons in Week 12.
