Comiston Road crash: Teenage cyclist hurt after being hit by a car on busy Edinburgh road

A cyclist has been hit by a car on a busy Edinburgh road.

Comiston Road was closed, close to where it turns into Pentland Terrace, following the collision at around 3.30pm on Wednesday.

Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene following reports of the accident and the cyclist, a 19-year-old male, was treated by medics. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers shut the road in both directions with traffic diverted away from the area.

The council-run social media account Edinburgh Travel News tweeted to say that there were heavy queues on Morningside Road and Comiston Road shortly before 5pm.

Police Scotland confirmed to Edinburgh Live that the road closure has since been lifted.
