Comic Relief 2019: Sir Lenny Henry pays tribute to Louis Tomlinson after death of his sister Félicité

Sir Lenny Henry has offered his condolences to Louis Tomlinson at Comic Relief after the death of his 18-year-old sister earlier this week.

The former One Direction star was due to perform during the show but pulled out after his sister Félicité died following a suspected cardiac arrest.

Speaking on Friday night, Sir Lenny said: "Louis Tomlinson wanted to be on this stage to help us but the sudden and tragic loss of his sister Félicité obviously means he can't be here.

"The love and best wishes of all of us at Comic Relief go out to Louis and his family at this terrible time."

The aspiring fashion designer died at her flat in Earl's Court, west London, on Wednesday.

Her death is being treated as unexplained by police.

It comes after Tomlinson's mother Johannah Deakin died from leukaemia in 2016 at the age of 43.

James Corden and Olly Murs were among those to console Tomlinson after his sister's death.

Corden tweeted: "Such incredibly sad news today.

"You're not on your own in this Louis Tomlinson So many people are pulling for you and your family right now".

Murs, who found fame on the X Factor one year before One Direction, also posted a message to Twitter.

It read: "Absolutely heartbreaking hearing the news of Louis sister Félicité sending my love to him & all his family right now! Awful news."

Félicité was well known on social media and regularly shared posts with her 1.3 million followers on Instagram.

On January 30, she posted a picture of a row of tattoos on her forearm, which she said were the initials of all her siblings.

Her last post came just four days ago.
