Comic Dennis Miller, TV director D.J. Lobue are among former owners of Studio City home #TBT

July 30--Here's a Studio City contemporary listed at $2.115 million that comes with a blast-from-the-past history.

Local architect Michael Pearce bought the lot in 1981 for $20,500 and completed the tri-level house in two years as his personal residence. The Modernist architect parted with the place in 1986, selling to prolific television director J.D. Lobue. Among shows he was working on at the time were the dance show "Soul Train," the popular sitcom "Newhart" and the ensemble comedy "It's a Living."

After two years of ownership he sold to Dennis Miller. The stand-up comedian's timing on stage was great, but in the housing market not so good. Miller spent $770,000 for the 4,694-square-foot house and sold in 1996 for $430,000.

The property last sold in 2013 for $1.25 million.

Belying the intervening decades since it was constructed, the sleek modern house is au courant with open plan living areas, high ceilings, a sunken living room and skylights. Including the master suite there are four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The bonus/in-law space has a separate entrance.

Multiple balconies and a hot tub take in canyon and cityscape views. The third-acre lot features drought-tolerant landscaping.

Shawn Kormondy of Keller Williams is the listing agent.
