Comic Con Liverpool confirms 2021 event is postponed to later date

Comic Con Liverpool is officially postponed due to the continued impact of COVID-19 in the region.

The event was set to return to the Exhibition Centre on March 6-7, however the company behind the comic book and film fan convention has decided to push it back to a later date.

The team at Monopoly Events made the decision to postpone the event due the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

It comes after Boris Johnson instructed the general public to stay at home and follow the new rules in the UK’s third lockdown in less than a year.

There is still some uncertainty regarding the time frame of the latest national lockdown with Mid-February to late March given as an indicator by the government that restrictions will start to be eased.

Following the announcement, the events team behind the legendary Comic Con event released a statement which ensured fans the event will go ahead in November 2021.

The statement read: “We at Monopoly Events have made the difficult decision to postpone Comic Con Liverpool until November 13th and 14th 2021.

“We agreed on the new dates with the venue this week and as always we want to keep our attendees informed as quickly as possible.

“We believe that you have every right to expect a certain standard with all of our shows, and after having such an incredible 2020 event in March, there was no way that we could compromise this year's show.

“There are still many questions over international travel which would affect our guests, the speed of vaccination, the capacity allowable for indoor events at this period and what measures might have to be in place that would affect your enjoyment.

“For the last three years we’ve used the Exhibition Centre, but in 2021 - after unbelievable sales already - we’re doubling the size of the event and using the neighbouring, and fully connected, Convention Centre as well.

“The intention and belief is that by November we’ll be able to run a full capacity event across both venues.”

The line up for Liverpool Comic Con 2021 is described as ‘phenomenal’ with a huge selection of guests, cosplay, props, traders, gaming and family fun on offer.
