'Cometh the Aouar, Cometh the man' - Arsenal fans go nuts as Aouar makes transfer decision

It has been a busy summer at the Emirates Stadium for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

After leading the club to yet another FA Cup triumph at the end of last season, the Spaniard has been looking to make the necessary changes to his squad to try and lead them to even greater heights.

The Gunners have completed five signings so far during this summer's transfer window, landing both Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares on permanent deals after last season's loan spells, Dani Ceballos has returned on loan from Real Madrid for the campaign and Willian, formerly of Chelsea, and Lille centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes have arrived at the Emirates Stadium on permanent deals.

Aubameyang signs new Arsenal deal

Whilst Arteta may have already strengthened his central-midfield options with the return of Ceballos on loan, the Arsenal boss has his sights set on bolstering his midfield even further, with the likes of Atletico Madrid midfield enforcer Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar of Lyon being closely linked with moves to the Emirates Stadium.

Whilst Partey would offer a sense of steel and grit, as well as a protection to the back-four, Aoaur would offer creativity going forward, which is something Arsenal do lack from the centre of midfield.

And the Gunners appear to have been handed a tremendous boost in their hopes of signing the midfielder before the transfer window closes next month, with the midfielder reportedly keen on securing a move to the Emirates Stadium.

It is reported by Fabrizio Romano - a well respected Italian journalist, who is something of an expert when it comes to transfer news - that Aouar wants to join Arsenal, with the Gunners having held discussions with his representatives.

This news has sent Arsenal fans online into a frenzy, with plenty of them excited by the latest development, offering them encouragement that the Frenchman could soon be on his way to the Emirates Stadium, despite no deal having yet been agreed.

With that in mind, here is a close look at what some Gunners fans have had to say on Twitter in response to the news...
