Comedy wildlife photography awards returns for 2020

The photography award that celebrates the lighter side of nature is back for 2020.

The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, now in its sixth year, is open for entries.

Along with the funny pictures, the competition's organisers hope to draw attention to environmental issues and promote wildlife conservation.

Entries will be accepted until 31 May, with the organisers expecting more photographers than ever to submit their funniest pictures.

Wildlife television presenter Kate Humble, comedian Hugh Dennis and renowned nature photographer Will Burrard-Lucas are all returning as judges of the contest.

After the judges cast their final votes, whoever is crowned Comedy Wildlife Photographer of the Year will win a week-long safari trip in Kenya.

As this year's competition commences, The Independent has compiled some of the best pictures from previous years in the gallery above.
