Comedy star Keith Lemon on Leeds United and his awkward exchange with a former famous player

Comedy star Keith Lemon has revealed all about his knowledge of Leeds United and his awkward exchange with a former star striker.

Keith, the alter ego of Leigh Francis, from Beeston, appeared on TalkSport to discuss the Whites and we think it is pretty obvious he isn’t a huge fan.

The hosts asked him about his interest in football and how often he attended matches - in a pre-Covid 19 world.

He answered: “I went to a Leeds reserve match and my mate, all the way through, he said ‘this isn’t like proper football as it is a reserve match’ and I just said ‘oh, right’.

“I know who Kevin Keegan is as well as he was on my bag when I was at school but I thought he was a lady.

“Yesterday, I had a socially distanced drink with Robbie Keane. Someone told me he was from Soccer Aid but I didn’t know who he was. I don’t know what he said as I had to listen really hard but he seemed a nice fella.”

The Republic of Ireland’s record scorer Robbie Keane, 40, played for Leeds United between 2001 and 2002. As well as playing in the recent Unicef Soccer Aid match the forward played for Tottenham, Liverpool, Celtic and Inter Milan amongst a number of clubs during his professional career.

We aren’t too sure we’ll be seeing Keith Lemon at Elland Road whenever supporters are allowed back in the stadium.
