Comedy Central’s smash hit series “South Side” is changing the perception of Chicago’s South Side one episode at a time, and now there’s more to come.
The cable channel on Wednesday announced a 10-episode second season of the scripted comedy set in and around Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. The series airs Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m.
Created by Bashir Salahuddin, a South Shore native and Whitney Young graduate, and his “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” alums Diallo Riddle and Michael Blieden, the show’s season one episodes were all shot in Chicago and the cast/crew is filled with local talent. The series follows two friends and recent community college grads as they work to make their dreams (and entrepreneurial goals) a reality.
“Our mission is to show the world the joy of Chicago,” said the show’s executive producers Salahuddin, Riddle and Blieden in the official announcement. “Comedy Central has been a fantastic creative partner in this effort. They allow all the Chicagoans who make this show possible to create with zero compromises. We are blessed.”
