Comedian’s impression of NBA fans during free agency is spot-on

NBA free agency has been madness this year as fans anxiously awaited the decisions of some of the league’s biggest superstars.

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to the Brooklyn Nets. Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat. Kemba Walker to the Boston Celtics. Klay Thompson’s staying with the Golden State Warriors. The New York Knicks are still losing.

Oh, and early Saturday morning — like still in the middle of the night — ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Kawhi Leonard is off to the Los Angeles Clippers, along with Paul George in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

NBA fans had been impatiently waiting for Leonard’s decision, and the news ended up breaking just before 2 a.m. ET. And that meant people who were already asleep for the news woke up to a big shocker — a moment that was brilliantly portrayed by online comedian Cameron Magruder.

In his latest portrayal of sports fans, Magruder hilariously captured the feelings of NBA fans in free agency. But nothing was better than his impression of people reacting to the Kawhi/Paul George news.

The video also poked fun at Cris Carter and Chris Broussard, who attempted to report free-agency news like Wojnarowski and The Athletic’s Shams Charania but didn’t quite get it right.
