Comedian Limmy recalls Radio One gig in Irvine - but he didn't stay long

Scots comedian Limmy has lifted the lid on a rather forgettable visit to Irvine.

The funnyman - real name Brian Limond - took to twitter as he tried to recall an outdoor music festival he attended in the early 2000s.

All the Glaswegian could remember about the gig was a performance by American child rapper Lil' Bow Wow.

He soon got the answer he was looking for from his army of followers - it was the Radio 1 One Big Sunday event staged at Irvine Beach Park in July, 2001.

But any hopes of the TV star following up with some hilarious anecdotes were quickly dashed when he revealed he didn't stay long - around 10 minutes to be exact. His sketch show character Dee Dee spent longer in Yoker.

Instead it was left to some of his fans to, er, reminisce.

Around 50,000 people attended One Big Sunday and heading up the bill on the sunny afternoon were two Welsh bands – Feeder and The Manic Street Preachers.

“Thong Song” singer Sisqo was also there alongside Oxide and Neutrino, “Heaven is a Halfpipe” singers OPM and 14-year-old Lil’ Bow Wow.

Here's some pictures from the event.
