A Lockerbie mum paid tribute to comedian Kevin Bridges for donating £20,000 to charity in her son’s memory.
The comedian had met Dylan Hairstains during a visit to Robin House children’s hospice several years ago and they became instant friends.
Dylan suffered from cystic fibrosis and, following complications, he died in 2012, aged just 16.
Kevin took to Twitter to reveal his gift saying: “I saw CHAS was struggling for funding and as it was Mother’s Day I thought of Dylan’s mum and other parents who have sick children.”
The comedian also urged others to donate.
Dylan’s mum Heather said: “It was just very humbling to read about this and how Kevin remembered Dylan.
“It was a really nice gesture and he never told me about it and I only found out when it was on Facebook.
“He is a lovely man. I have met him a few times.
“It was really nice of him after learning these charities have had to cancel fundraising events because of the coronavirus.”
She added: “When Dylan and Kevin first met they hit it off and got on brilliantly.
“They played FIFA games together and Kevin even came down when Dylan was getting treatment. He’s just a lovely, genuine and down-to-earth guy.
“I cannot praise him enough.”
Rami Okasha from CHAS said: “We are humbled and bowled over by Kevin’s donation.”
