Comedian Johnny Vegas says he would 'lay his tastebuds to rest' at this Nottingham restaurant

Funnyman Johnny Vegas is clearly a man with impeccable taste when it comes to burgers. The comedian revealed the place he'd want his 'tastebuds laid to rest' is a certain Nottingham restaurant with "patty perfection."

He told Twitter fans: "The one burger joint we [he and his son] both discuss with fondest memories, the place where I’d want my tastebuds laid to rest, the reason why I sigh if I pass near Nottingham but can’t detour despite my heartfelt desire for patty perfection, will always be Annie's Burger Shack."

Johnny has been a visitor several times at the American diner, in Broadway, in the Lace Market, known for its extravagant, imaginative toppings and something for everyone with vegan and veggie versions of every burger.

Obviously he could be swayed by the fact that Annie's has named a burger in his honour: the Johnny Vegas burger topped with crispy bacon, warm toffee apple butter, grilled black pudding, sweet chilli jam and a homemade mini Guinness jelly doughnut on a stick.

The comic, who also admitted he's quite partial to a Five Guys burger, once surprised a customer who ordered his meaty namesake by serving it at the table, and in 2015 appeared on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch with Anmarie Spaziano, founder of Annie's.

The restaurant tweeted "heart shaped arrows" right back at him.

Twitter followers agreed. They Call Me Afra replied: "My new pilates studio is right next door and this is the height of both pleasure and pain."

Paul Bennett posted: "Johnny Vegas and Nottingham go together like beer and fags. So many great gigs and memories - the conga to Chirpy Chirpy, Cheep Cheep. I think you've still got my mate Scott's PG Tips monkey beanie!"

Where would you lay your tastebuds to rest? And what would be your final meal? Let us know in the comments below.
