Comedian Jason Manford to work for Iceland after being snubbed by Tesco

Comedian Jason Manford is off to work at Iceland after the frozen food store took him on following a snub from supermarket rival Tesco.

Last month stand up star Jason, who also made the final of The Masked Singer earlier this year, revealed he'd applied for a job at Tesco to help out after his own work had been shelved due to the coronavirus pandemic.

An "absolutely livid" Jason then took to Twitter weeks later to confirm he'd been knocked back, posting: ""I was only trying to do my bit I hope the better person got and enjoys the job, I'll be watching,"

Tesco responded by saying Jason didn't get his application in on time, tweeting: ""We've recruited around 50,000 temporary workers during the coronavirus pandemic and they have played a huge part in helping us to serve customers safely during these unprecedented times," they said.

"Jason's skills would have no doubt brought a lot of joy to our customers and colleagues, so it's a shame he didn't make the deadline for this vacancy.

"But should he ever want to join the Tesco family in the future, we'd be happy to receive an application from him."

However, appearing on Thursday's Good Morning Britain, Jason, who revealed he once worked at Asda, told host Lorraine Kelly he would be doing a shift at Iceland.

He explained: "They said 'why don't you come and work for us for an afternoon'? So I'm going to deliver some food and we're making a donation to charity."

Lorraine: "I don't know what they're going to think when you turn up at the door!"
