Comedian Fred Cooke reveals how his mum was bombarded with calls after false reports of him getting engaged

Comedian Fred Cooke revealed how his mum was inundated with phone calls following false reports of him getting engaged emerged.

The 38-year-old funnyman posted a picture of him alongside girlfriend Julie Jay on social media with the caption “No longer a single Dingle” which led to speculations of the duo getting engaged.

The Meath man said that his mum got several calls from people congratulating her.

In fact, Fred’s sister called him and offered money to help with the reception.

Fred said: “Everyone was so genuinely happy...the only problem was myself and Julie aren’t getting married, we are not getting engaged.

“We haven’t even been going out a year.”

But he said he understood why people thought they were getting married because of the picture and caption.

He told the Irish Sun: “But all that ‘No Longer single in Dingle meant’ was that myself and Julie are no longer single and we are in Dingle.”

The DWTS semi-finalist said that he wanted to put up a picture of the couple together because they spent so much time apart because of the reality show
