Comedian David Mitchell has Alex Scott and Jermaine Jenas in hysterics over football jokes on the One Show

Appearing on the One Show tonight comedian David Mitchell, known for his role on Would I Lie To You, did not hide his disdain of football in front of presenters Alex Scott and Jermaine Jenas.

Both Alex and Jermaine are former footballing pros, with Alex presenting Football Focus and Jermaine often appearing on Match of the Day, and were in hysterics over the football jokes David was making.

David, who was on the show to talk about his new comedy show "Outsiders", began the show by telling the hosts he was "NOT a football fan" to which Jermaine cheekily replied: "We know that!"

Continuing David said: "The teams are always playing, they play each other every year, more than once. It goes on and on and on and it's never resolved."

During his rant, Alex and Jermaine were in stitches, and even more so when David suggested that once football teams had won everything, they should not play again.

He said: "When they win the double, or the triple, the highest level of achievement possible for a team they should be disbanded....they go to football heaven, give everyone else a chance!"

Still laughing Jermaine said: "You have written off mine and Alex's career there, in a second."

The One Show is on every weekday from 7 PM on BBC1.
