Come to Bhopal, crack jokes on me: Digvijaya Singh to Munawar Faruqui & Kunal Kamra

BHOPAL: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh on Monday extended an invite to comedians Kunal Kamra and Munawar Faruqui to perform in Bhopal, saying all the jokes should be on him. BJP has vowed not to let them set foot in MP

Kamra’s and Faruqui’s shows in Bengaluru were cancelled this month. “Hate won, artist lost. I’m done,” Faruqui had said around a fortnight ago after a dozen-odd shows were cancelled. He had spent a month in Indore jail for allegedly insulting Hindu gods and goddesses and Bengaluru Police refused permission for his show, citing a law and order situation. Kamra was not given permission for his shows because 45 people cannot be seated in the venue. Kamra had joked that he is being perceived as a new variant of Covid-19.

On Monday, Digvijaya came to their rescue. “For you Kunal and Munawar, I will organize a show in Bhopal. All responsibility will be mine,” the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister tweeted. “There is only one condition. The subject of the comedy will be Digvijaya Singh only. Sanghis should have no objection to this!! Come, don’t be afraid!! Give the date and time as per your convenience. All your conditions are accepted,” he added.

Kamra replied, “Sir, thank you for the kind invitation. Checking if we have life insurance and getting back to you ASAP.”

BJP wasn’t amused. Party MLA from Huzur, Rameshwar Sharma, said: “If Digvijaya Singh is having his bout of madness, it does not mean that we will accept it. Digvijaya wants to invite Pak terrorists for a biryani feast. Will we let that happen? “What does Congress want to show by calling Hindus, Hindutva and Lord Ram as fiction?”
