'Come on Sterling' - Man City fans reacting to starting line-up against Burnley

Manchester City fans were left puzzled by Pep Guardiola’s starting 11 against Burnley at the Etihad Stadium, though some fans hoped to see a positive performance from Raheem Sterling.

City head into the Burnley fixture third and can’t go top after Liverpool beat Watford in Saturday’s early fixture.

But a win would move them up to second, a point behind the Reds, before Chelsea play on Saturday afternoon.

And a comprehensive victory, 5-0 to be exact, would see City set a new English record as no team has beaten the same opponent 5-0 at home in five consecutive fixtures.

Though fans were largely positive of a win on social media, supporters were confused as to why Ruben Dias and Jack Grealish were left on the bench to be replaced by John Stones and Raheem Sterling.

Sterling's future at the Etihad Stadium has been much speculated in recent months and he has been linked with a move to Newcastle United following their recent takeover or abroad, with the player himself saying he would be open to it.

Fans took to social media to not only wish Sterling well but also Ake, with one comment hoping the duo could prove the doubters wrong.

There was also confusion as to where Aymeric Laporte would play, with fans predicting either he or Nathan Ake would start at left back.
