'Come on, Jamie!' - Newcastle fans come up with takeover theory after Jamie Reuben quits QPR role

Jamie Reuben, who would have been expected to join the Newcastle United board had a takeover been completed, has left his role at QPR, according to companies house.

Reuben, a 33-year-old finance expert, has quit his role as director at the West London club.

Reuben was poised to take up a role on the Magpies' board had the Middle East consortium involving Amanda Staveley and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund's takeover attempt been successful.

Despite their best efforts, the group, of course, walked away from any potential deal being concluded after the Premier League did not approve or reject their approach during the owner’s and director’s test.

Should Reuben have wished to have taken up a role at St James' Park, he would have had to have left his role at QPR. At the time of writing, no statement has been issued by either Reuben or QPR about his sudden exit.

Speaking back in July, Reuben said: “We feel great compassion for the Newcastle United fans with whom we shared a great commitment to help Newcastle United harness its tremendous potential and build upon its impressive and historic legacy while working closely with the local community.“

The news of his resignation came as a surprise to those close to him this afternoon and the reasons are yet to emerge why."

Though no concrete reports of a fresh takeover attempt involving Reuben have surfaced, some Newcastle supporters have quickly flooded social media with the hope that a fresh takeover attempt, involving Reuben, could be about to take place.

Here is a close look at how some Newcastle supporters have reacted on Twitter to Reuben's sudden exit from the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium...
