'Come home' - Newcastle United fans send clear transfer message to Salomon Rondon

Newcastle United fans have issued a renewed transfer plea for former number nine Salomon Rondon to return to St James' Park.

The Venezuelan international enjoyed a season-long loan spell from West Brom in Rafa Benitez's final year on Tyneside.

Rondon quickly endeared himself to the Toon Army and bagged 11 goals in black-and-white to help steer the Magpies clear of the relegation zone.

However, the Magpies did not agree a permanent deal for the striker and the 31-year-old ended up reuniting with Benitez at Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Pro.

Rondon himself has consistently stated he would be open to a return to Tyneside, describing St James' Park as his 'jungle' in a recent interview.

In a New Year message shared on social media, Rondon urged his fans not to lose their 'smiles or hope' following a challenging 2020.

This inevitably drew a response from supporters, with West Brom and United fans particularly clear in their message to their former striker.

Here's how Newcastle United supporters responded to Rondon's New Year message:

'See you soon'

'Still miss you'

'Come home'

'Salooo'

'Great number 9'

'You beaut'
