Come Dine With Me is back for a new series but it's totally different from what you've seen before

Everyone's favourite cookery competition is back, but Come Dine With Me looks a little different in this new series.

For the first time contestants won't cook in their own homes and will go nowhere near each other, not even a cursory handshake, thanks to Covid-19 restrictions. In fact, it's the first series of the long-running show to be filmed in two years.

And the producers will be filming in Wales later this year in five Welsh locations - and you could be on it. Find out more about that here.

The first five episodes of this, the 46th series, are in Basingstoke and feature five strangers hoping to bag £1,000 prize money.

Christopher, Izzy, Mark, Nicole and Adam are the competitors in this series and marketing manager Nicole is the first to cook in the big, hired pad, described by narrator, Dave Lamb as 'bougie.'

"I'm actually really apprehensive about cooking in a kitchen I've never used before," said Nicole, who has to cook her Lebanese and Ghanian-influenced food, on an Aga, a type of cooker she's never used before.

Other contestants include competitive dad, Adam and self-confessed 'Basingstoke's answer to Liam Gallagher', Chris. Posh Prosecco-lover, Izzy and Mark, who's keen on impressions.

The quintet are able to mooch around the generously sized gardens of the converted barn and dine, the main course at least, in the large dining room.

They skipped the large, wooden-beamed room for the starter course as they all sat on the grass in the garden.

More awkward team-bonding ensued as the had a disco in the garden and Nicole burst out in song at the dinner table.

Find out how she got on by tuning into Channel 4 on Monday, August 2at 5pm, Channel 4. The series continues weeknights.
