Come Dine With Me: Glasgow viewers split over Dazza with demands for his own cooking show

If anyone tuned into last night's episode of Come Dine With Me, you will have seen Glasgow on your TV.

But as well as our city, you'd have also seen the legendary Dazza.

Dazza has built a huge social media following through TikTok with his experimental approach to deep-frying a variety of foods.

He's been such a hit that he has almost 16,000 followers, 130k likes and millions of views by deep-frying anything he can get his hands on from a Pot Noodle to cat food, a PS4 controller and even a spider.

If however you're unfamiliar with the show, the hit Channel 4 series sees a group of strangers competing with each other to put on the best dinner party. You may remember viral clips, including the contestant who put a whole whisk in his mouth and another who said the iconic line 'What a sad little life Jane' and demands she leave his house after winning the show.

As well as a Glasgow hair salon owner, Dazza also known as Darren or yerboidazza on social media, began to introduce himself by deep-frying a chicken drumstick not once, but twice.

And an FYI for those wondering...does double deep fried chicken fry?

"Oh aye."

Dazza continued: "I'm like the Glaswegian diversity hire. I'm just the guy that shouldn't get in because I'm no there to win, I'm purely there for for the banter.

"I'm going in with low expectations and if it's good then it's good."

Watching the first episode of the show, people took to twitter with their reaction - and it was a pretty mixed bag.

During the first main meal, Dazza admitted he didn't eat vegetables and then got confused between what a cucumber and a courgette was.

He admitted: "Looking around the table and looking at everyone's confusion as to why I thought that was a cucumber just confused me more if I'm being honest."

One said: "Crikey! Darren can't tell difference between a Courgette and a Cucumber, even though it was cooked. Mad sentence alert: - Still he was good at twerking ping-pong balls."

A second tweeted: "Darren’s got a cheeseboard planned for his night" followed by this lunchbox beauty.

A third said: "For a 'food vlogger', this Darren, doesn't have much of a clue about anything!"

And in Glaswegian style, someone added: "Can't wait until Darren's turn, his menu is probably fishcake starter followed by KFC then fried Mars Bar for dessert."

And despite others having a mixed view on their Glaswegian TikToker, some were calling for him to have his own show with one tweeting: "Please give Darren his own show, he’s hilarious!"

You can watch Darren have his turn at cooking and hosting this week at 5.30pm on Channel 4.
