'Come back to haunt us' - Liverpool fans are worried after Timo Werner seals Chelsea transfer

Liverpool fans have been reacting on social media after Timo Werner completed his move to Chelsea.

The Stamford Bridge club are believed to have paid £47.5million to complete the signing of Werner, who will join on a five-year contract worth more than £170,000-a-week.

Werner had been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, however the Reds decided not to go in for the forward and it is Chelsea who have pounced for his signature.

The 24-year-old has been one of the stand-out performers in the Bundesliga over recent seasons and last night scored his 26th league goal of the campaign.

And below is how a selection of Liverpool fans reacted to the confirmation on Twitter.

Werner is Chelsea's second signing this calendar year after Hakim Ziyech agreed to join Frank Lampard’s side this summer from Ajax back February.

Speaking on the move, the Germany international said: "I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club.

"I of course want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years. You will forever be in my heart.

"I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us."
