Matteo Guendouzi will miss the rest of Hertha Berlin's season through injury.
The Arsenal midfielder has been on loan with the Bundesliga outfit this term, but it was announced on Friday afternoon that he won't be adding to his 24 league appearances.
This is after Guendouzi suffered a fractured metatarsal during Hertha Berlin's 3-0 win over Freiburg on Thursday - just a few hours before his parent club was dumped out of the Europa League at the semi-final stage.
As a result, the midfielder will miss the side's final four games of the season including a mini-Arsenal reunion with Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac when Hertha face Schalke away from home on May 12.
"Scans on Friday morning confirmed the fears that Matteo Guendouzi has suffered a fractured metatarsal," a statement on the Hertha Berlin website reads. "The 22-year-old won’t play again this season for Hertha BSC.
"The midfielder got injured during Thursday’s home win over SC Freiburg, and although he tried to play on, had to come off in the 39th minute.
"Our number 8, on loan from Arsenal, has played 24 Bundesliga games for the club, scoring twice and recording three assists."
So what next for Guendouzi?
Well, football.london revealed last month that he is one of several players Arsenal are open to selling this summer in a bid to raise funds to boost Mikel Arteta's transfer budget.
However, some Gunners have other ideas.
Taking to Twitter to react to the big announcement, there's many who are hoping that Guendouzi returns to the Emirates Stadium and outlasts Arteta, who is reportedly facing the sack.
