Columnist resigns in protest at sacking

Earlier this week I mentioned the story of a Canadian journalist fired after an advertiser complained about her work. Now comes another development following the dismissal of columnist Vivian Smith from the Victoria Times-Colonist. One of her colleagues, Lynne Van Luven, a professor of journalism as the University of Victoria who also writes a column, has resigned in sympathy with Smith. (Via publiceyeonline.com)
