Colts WR Penny Hart listed as UDFA to watch

Though they didn’t get to hear their name called during the 2019 NFL Draft, there will be many undrafted free agents that will have the chance to compete for a roster spot throughout the offseason, training camp and preseason.

The Colts signed nine undrafted free agents following the draft just before the start of rookie minicamp this weekend and among them was former Georgia State wide receiver Penny Hart.

Keeping eyes on the competition at wide receiver will be an objective over the coming months, and Hart was listed as the undrafted free agent to watch for the Colts by Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports.

Georgia State WR Penny Hart turned a lot of heads at the Senior Bowl, drawing comparisons to Andy Isabella (both are 5-foot-8), but ran a 4.58 at his pro day and went undrafted. There are reports that he was hurt and if he looks like the player he was in Mobile, Alabama, he might find his way onto a roster.

Hart lacks ideal size at 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds. This also makes his catch radius a concern. However, his short area quickness off the line of scrimmage and out of his breaks allows him to create separation all over the field.

It remains to be seen if his poor testing will hold him back, but he’s a solid route runner from the slot and could compete for that final spot on the roster in the wide receiver room depending on how many the Colts wind up keeping.

There is expected to be a lot of competition in the wide receiver room this offseason, and the addition of Hart following the draft only adds another name to the mix.
