Colts unlikely to have training camp in Westfield

Though we don’t know when the Indianapolis Colts will be able to return for training camp, it seems they won’t be doing so at their usual spot—the Grand Park Sports Complex in Westfield.

Due to the restrictions of the coronavirus, the NFL reportedly told teams who travel off-site for training camp will have to conduct it at the team’s facilities this preseason.

For some teams, this doesn’t change all that much. But for a team like the Colts, this changes a few factors. The biggest in being the fact that fans—even if they are allowed to attend—likely won’t be able to.

The Colts typically go off-site so they have a chance to interact with the fans and give them a chance to watch the team. But the facility at West 56th Street doesn’t give them the same opportunity for fans to come and watch.

It will be interesting to see what the steps will be to get the teams ready for training camp, but it appears it might be one more for closed doors.
