Background
The face of the franchise returns for his eighth season as the starting quarterback following what should be considered his most efficient campaign in 2018. Leading the way in head coach Frank Reich’s offense, Luck helped the Colts become one of the best offensive units in football.
Luck finished the 2018 season with career-highs in completion percentage (67.3) and passer rating (98.7) while also throwing for 4,593 yards, 39 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
Though he’s dealt with a calf strain for the majority of the spring, the 29-year-old is expected to be a full-go for training camp.
2019 Outlook
There isn’t much Luck needs to prove to Colts fans or the rest of the league for that matter. However, he finally appears to be in the best situation to make a run for the MVP award, an accolade that he’s never won.
With a stout offensive line, the potential of an improved running game, weapons all around and in an offense that perfectly fits his play style, Luck finds himself as one of the top contenders for the award.
He will also be looking toward leading the Colts further in the playoffs following the disappointing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC divisional round.
