Colts’ training camp preview: LB Skai Moore

With training camp approaching quickly, we continue to preview training camp for the Indianapolis Colts, looking at an under-the-radar piece of the linebacker corps.

Name: Skai Moore
Position: LB
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 225
Age: 24
Year Drafted: 2018 (UDFA)

Background

An undrafted free agent with the Colts following the 2018 draft, Moore rarely saw the field during his rookie season but did show some promise as a potential depth piece.

He played just 72 defensive snaps (6.88%) and 38 special teams snaps (8.62%) during the 2018 season. He played in nine games (one start) while recording four tackles.

2019 Outlook

Moore spent most of the season playing between the active roster and being on the practice squad before ending his season on the injured reserve. He’s likely competing for a depth spot at WILL linebacker behind Darius Leonard.

Though undersized, Moore is a solid coverage linebacker. He’s working to be one of the final linebackers on the roster and has shown he can be a rotational piece if needed.

He’s likely competing with Zaire Franklin, E.J. Speed, Tre Thomas and Ahmad Thomas in the linebacker room.

Bottom Line

Moore is fighting for a spot on the roster in a now-crowded linebacker corps. He has a chance to make the roster but if he doesn’t, there’s potentially a spot on the practice squad.
