We continue our training camp previews by turning our attention to the Indianapolis Colts’ cornerback room and arguably its biggest play-maker.

Background
Moore’s NFL journey is exactly why no one should give on their dreams to make the league. After going undrafted and then released from his first team—the New England Patriots—the Valdosta State product would find a home in Indianapolis. And it was there where Moore slowly but surely carve out a roster spot for himself.
The 5-foot-9 cornerback is a “jack of all trades” defender. Ranging from his consistent coverage against slot receivers to successfully weak-side blitzing opposing quarterbacks, Moore has given the Colts, and it’s secondary, a play-maker rarely seen in quite some time.
So it wasn’t a surprise to witness Moore produce a career-best season 77 total tackles, 11 passes defended and three interceptions during the 2018 season.
2019 Outlook
Moore was probably guaranteed a roster spot for this season after being productive in his first two years, but that was actually confirmed last month. It was then when Moore signed a four-year extension with the Colts, that is not only worth $30 million but keeps him in town until 2023.
So at this point, it’s all about Moore maintaining his production and impact from last season. He is a very important piece to the Colts’ overall defensive plans, and it’s a must for the former Division II product to be good, especially at a position filled with many new and young faces.
Bottom Line
Given his new contract-status, importance to the team and personality, Moore will have another season to emerge as a leader and play-maker for the Colts’ defense. And it’s not a matter of if Moore can be impactful, but when exactly and how often.
