Colts trade up, select S Khari Willis with No. 109 pick

The Indianapolis Colts traded up with the Oakland Raiders and selected former Michigan safety Khari Willis with the No. 109 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

The Colts moved up 20 spots to grab Willis, which shows just how much they like him. With safety being arguably their biggest need, Indy addresses it with their first pick on Day 3.

The Colts wound up giving up the Nos. 129 and 135 picks to move up in the fourth round to make their first selection on Day 3.

Willis (5’11, 213) is known to be an excellent tackler while having the frame and skill set to work more as a box safety, which should be a potentially nice complement to Malik Hooker.

In 2018, the senior safety racked up 77 tackles (38 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, one interception and seven passes defended. He ran a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash.

After making their four selections on Friday, the Colts begin the final day of their draft by taking Willis after moving up 20 spots in the draft order.
