Colts to re-sign CB Pierre Desir

The Indianapolis Colts are reportedly bringing back veteran cornerback Pierre Desir on a multi-year contract, per multiple reports.

Despite having thin depth at the cornerback position, the Colts allowed Desir to test the free agent market like they did last year. The result was the same as Desir eventually re-signed, but this time it will be for multiple years.

The news was first reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and confirmed by Mike Chappell of Fox59.

Desir was an integral part of the secondary in 2018, especially in the second half of the season. He emerged as a starter on the boundary while proving to be a perfect fit for the Cover-2 scheme the Colts ran the majority of the time.

His physicality at the line of scrimmage and ability to help against the run were a few aspects that set him apart from the rest of the room.

The Colts are likely to still add some depth to the cornerback room, but they bring back a big piece to the secondary.
