Though the Indianapolis Colts were hoping to get 15% capacity for their home opener in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings but will have far less than that.
After contacting the Marion County Public Health Department, the Colts are prepared to have 2,500 fans in attendance at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sept. 20, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following discussions with the Marion County Public Health Department, we will host a maximum of 2,500 attendees at Lucas Oil Stadium for our home opener on Sept. 20.

While most teams have let their fanbases know they won’t have fans in attendance for the start of the season, the Colts had always hoped they could open the campaign with at least some fans.
“Our top priority always will be the health and safety of fans, players and staff, so we must take the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe, which includes a reduced stadium capacity on gameday,” said Colts COO Pete Ward in a statement. “We will continue to work with local health officials on steps that will allow our season to go on as safely as possible with fans in the stands. And we continue to appreciate the patience of all our fans as we navigate the fluid nature of this pandemic.”
It will be interesting to see how this situation will progress for the Colts, but it appears they will have at least some fans in the seats for Week 2.
