Colts to face Panthers rookie QB Will Grier

When the Indianapolis Colts (6-8) host the Carolina Panthers (5-9) at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday afternoon, they will be doing so against rookie quarterback Will Grier.

Making his first career start in the NFL, Grier gets the reigns under center for the first time since being selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft. With Cam Newton missing most of the season with a foot injury and Kyle Allen struggling, the rookie gets his chance.

Grier is a product of West Virginia where he spent the final two seasons of his collegiate career. In those two seasons, he completed 65.7% of his passes for 7,354 yards, 71 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.

The game matters neither for the Colts or the Panthers. The latter is trying to find out what type of talent they have in the quarterback room in case they try to move on from the aforementioned Newton in a trade this offseason, a move that is possible.

The Colts will be trying to win these final two games even though they are already knocked out of the playoffs. They won’t be making any changes under center, but they will be tinkering with the offensive scheme a bit.

The Colts and Panthers are set to kickoff at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.
