Colts’ team needs entering 2019 NFL Draft

The Indianapolis Colts have finally arrived at the point of the offseason that matters most: the 2019 NFL Draft.

Despite a successful regular season in which the Colts grabbed a wild-card spot ultimately reached the AFC divisional round, there are still some needs general manager Chris Ballard will be looking to address.

Here’s a quick look at the Colts’ team needs entering the draft:

  • Interior Defensive Line
  • Safety
  • Wide Receiver
  • Edge Rusher
  • Cornerback
  • Interior Offensive Line
  • Offensive Tackle

While some needs may be bigger than others, the Colts have a certain strategy they would like to follow. This could lead Indy to picking a lesser need earlier than a bigger need if the former is at a position of high value.

For example, the wide receiver position might be arguably the team’s biggest need in the draft, but there’s a chance they don’t touch it until Day 3. General manager Chris Ballard would prefer to build the offensive line and front seven on defense early and take a projectable skill player later.

No one knows for sure how the draft will unfold, but there are plenty of needs the Colts can address over the next three days.
