Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton has been in the league long enough to know when his game his on point. Preparing for his eighth NFL season, he believes this has been the best start to training camp.
The 29-year-old has been the best offensive player for the Colts throughout the three weeks of training camp. With one short week to go, it’s likely it stays that way.
When asked if this is the best he’s played in training camp, Hilton told reporters, “I would think so, yeah.”
What constitutes this being the best training camp? Hilton responded, “My percentage targeted and my catches.”
You better believe he has a number on that. “Yeah, 29 out of 30,” said Hilton.
It isn’t surprising that the Colts keep track of that during practice and while that is an insane efficiency rate, it simply goes to show just how strong of a training camp Hilton is enjoying.
The unquestioned WR1 on the depth didn’t play in the preseason opener, but that was to be expected. He’s likely to see one drive in the second game on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns following the joint practices.
Despite working through several injuries throughout the 2018 season, Hilton was dominant to finish the year. He recorded 76 catches for 1,270 yards and six touchdowns, most of which came while he was dealing with two separate sprains on the same ankle.
The Colts offense is expected to be one of the top units in the NFL, and Hilton will be one of the leaders paving the way in the passing game.
