Colts’ T.Y. Hilton aggravated pre-existing quad injury

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton was limited all week due to a quadriceps injury and it appears he aggravated the ailment during the 27-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Hilton told reporters following the game that the training staff didn’t want him to go back out in the second half in fear he might tear the quad muscle, which would certainly keep him out longer.

Hilton did his part to help the team win. He was questionable entering the matchup but pushed through the injury. He was masterful throughout the first half of the game—catching eight of 10 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown.

However, on that touchdown reception just before the end of the first half, Hilton felt the pain in his quad come back. Though he caught the touchdown pass on a quick out, Hilton immediately walked to the locker room with nine seconds remaining in the half. He didn’t come out for the second half.

It isn’t clear how long Hilton will be out. But it was significant enough that the training staff didn’t want to risk further injury. This will be a storyline to monitor throughout the week.
