The Indianapolis Colts signed safety Rolan Milligan to the practice squad and released quarterback Phillip Walker from the practice squad the team announced Wednesday.
Milligan, who initially made the 53-man roster, was waived when the Colts made the move to sign veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer to be the backup behind new starter Jacoby Brissett.
Milligan spent time on both the active roster and practice squad throughout the 2018 season.
With Hoyer now the backup quarterback and Chad Kelly serving a two-game suspension, Walker became expendable. The Colts will now roll with two quarterbacks on the active roster as they wait for Kelly’s suspension to pass.
Walker has been with the Colts since signing as an undrafted free agent following the 2017 NFL Draft.
